We’re proud to announce that Professor Adam Shahir Kayoom has officially joined the Equinox Academy coaching team and community. His arrival marks a major milestone for our academy and an incredible opportunity for our students.

Willoughby Has a New National Champion – Congratulations Harry!

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate 14‑year‑old Equinox athlete Harry Hickman, who has officially become the National Australian BJJ Champion (Orange Belt). Featured in Willoughby Living, Harry’s journey is a powerful example of perseverance, discipline, and the impact of a supportive martial arts community.

Harry has trained in Brazilian Jiu‑Jitsu for nearly a decade, growing from a playful beginner into a focused, determined competitor. This year, his commitment paid off as he secured victories against top athletes from across Australia, finishing the final match with a decisive submission. His success reflects not only his skill, but his mindset, leadership, and dedication to constant improvement.

At Equinox Academy, Harry trains 4–5 times per week in BJJ and Muay Thai, balancing classes, private sessions, and his role in our Leadership Program, where he mentors younger students. His patience, kindness, and example on the mats make him a role model for the next generation.

We’re honoured to be part of Harry’s journey and excited to support him as he prepares for the Abu Dhabi World Championships.
